Analysis: Fracking, traffic death increase noted

Fatalities more than quadrupled since 2004

Even though most American roads have become much safer over the past decade, that can't be said for highways in states that have seen a boom in the energy-drilling technique known as fracking.

It requires large numbers of vehicles to carry water and other materials, leading to increased traffic.

And an Associated Press analysis of traffic deaths and census numbers in six drilling states finds that in some places, fatalities have more than quadrupled since 2004.
