Americans say their financial situation is worse now than a year ago

Just 36% say they are better off now

A new poll by CNN/ORC International shows 44% of Americans say their personal financial situation is worse today than one year ago.

Thirty-six percent say they are better off and 1 in 5 say things are about the same.

Thirty-five percent say that the nation’s economy is “very” or “somewhat” good, a 9% increase since December.

The poll was conducted by telephone June 11-13 and has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
