A major fire at a Tulsa apartment complex destroyed one building at the 4100 Apartments near 41st and Peoria early Thursday.
The fire started inside a kitchen at one of the apartments at 3935 South Norfolk Avenue about 2:20 a.m., then spread to 12 units in the same building.
The two-alarm fire required Tulsa firefighters to rotate crews as they fought the fire in the 11-degree cold weather.
"Copy. Sending over two packages of hand warmers. Affirmative. Okay thank you," firemen said.
Firemen required assistance provided by hand warmers to keep their hands from freezing.
Firefighters rescued some residents from a balcony on the second floor of the burning building shortly after the fire was reported.
