Agitated passenger causes jet to divert

Flight attendants subdued the man

A hollering, agitated passenger who ignored pleas to calm down has spurred a pilot to divert a New York-to-Las Vegas JetBlue plane to Detroit over the weekend.

That's according to a statement from JetBlue Airways Corp. and a passenger video obtained by ABC News (http://abcn.ws/1lo2UWh ).

JetBlue says the passenger became unruly and the captain decided to land in Detroit at around 8:30 a.m. Saturday out of "an abundance of caution."

Flight attendants subdued the man and restrained him with plastic hand ties.

The video shows a man standing, gesticulating and shouting, his remarks unclear, while a female voice exclaims, "Dad, stop it!"

JetBlue says authorities in Detroit took him into custody.

The plane left for Las Vegas about two hours later, arriving at around 11:30 a.m.
