ACLU says it has 'serious concerns' over background checks for guns

Worry over national registry at the top of the list

Harry Reid probably never saw this one coming.

Senator Reid’s gun legislation has already caused many pro-gun groups to stand up and be heard but now the American Civil Liberties Union has joined that list.

In an exclusive, The Daily Caller talked to Chris Calabrese, a lobbyist with the ACLU.

One is the keeping of purchase records which they fear could be used inappropriately.

Calabrese said the ACLU thinks in its current form the legislation “raises two significant concerns.”

They also worry that the records would lead to a national gun registry.

Calabrese told the Daily Caller, “We have seen in the past that the creation of these types of records leads sometimes to the creation of government databases and collections of personal information on all of us.”
