Accused child killer beat up in Oklahoma jail

Fellow inmates didn't take too kindly to an accused child killer being in their jail.

Cedric Ricks is charged with capital murder in the May 1 deaths of Roxann Sanchez and 8-year-old Anthony Reyes Figueroa.

He was arrested in Pauls Valley and booked into the Garvin County jail.

Ricks is accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her 8-year-old son.

Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes confirms that Ricks was attacked by other inmates. He says Ricks suffered "visible injuries" to his face but that they weren't serious.

He was returned to Texas after his arrest in Oklahoma.

Court records show Ricks waived his extradition proceedings and was booked Friday in the Tarrant County jail. In his mugshot, Ricks has a black eye that's swollen shut.

The sheriff says the district attorney's office is now reviewing the assault to determine whether any charges will be filed.
