OKMULGEE, Okla. — A judge has ordered Joseph Kennedy ― the man charged with the Okmulgee quadruple murders — to pay damages to the victims’ families.

FOX23 previously reported that investigators said Kennedy killed, dismembered and dumped Mark and Billy Chastain, Alex Stevens and Mike Sparks in the Deep Fork River in Okmulgee in early October.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Kennedy by Megan Gordon, Jessica Chastain and Karen Sparks as plaintiffs, on behalf of their relatives Billy Chastain, Mark Chastain and Mike Sparks respectively on Oct. 25.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2023 to determine how much the Kennedys will have to pay.

Since Kennedy did not respond to the lawsuit, a judge ordered the couple to pay a default judgement Tuesday, court documents revealed.

The Okmulgee County District Attorney officially charged Kennedy with four counts of first degree murder Monday.

This is a developing story.
