GLENPOOL, Okla. — Glenpool City Council members voted to approve a mask mandate during their Wednesday night meeting, becoming the latest Tulsa suburb to pass a mask ordinance.
The mandate passed by council members with a 3-2 to vote.
The mandate is modeled after the city of Tulsa. Anyone 10 and older will be required to wear a mask.
Customers also don’t have to wear a mask while they are eating or drinking.
Exceptions include people who can’t wear a mask due to a medical or mental health condition and the developmentally disabled.
The emergency clause is reported to go into effect immediately.
The ordinance is set to expire on January 31st, 2021 unless otherwise repealed or modified by the council.
There is no specific penalty for violation of the ordinance. However, someone refusing to wear a mask where one is required could face criminal charges such as trespassing, disturbing the peace, or disorderly conduct.
In the last week, Jenks also passed a mask mandate modeled after Tulsa, and Sapulpa voted on a mask resolution.
