TULSA, Okla. — Bargain conscious shoppers with a list of back-to-school items wasted no time on Friday hitting the stores.
Oklahoma’s tax free weekend is officially underway.
The Oklahoma State Tax Commission says the holiday weekend helps customers and businesses.
The only caveat, is the item cannot cost more than $99.99. All stores are required to participate.
Those burdened with back-to-school shopping will get a break on sales tax on all apparel items and footwear.
While the tax free holiday is certainly not new in Oklahoma, punishing inflation has parents looking for any breaks they can find.
FOX23 spent time talking with shoppers at Old Navy and Academy Sports + Outdoors in Tulsa, including a mother of six and a mother seven.
