Scammer on Christian dating site costs woman $500,000

The woman had begun a sight unseen relationship with a man in Nigeria. There were texts, phone calls and the guy sent her flowers as well.
So when he asked her for money to start his business, she sent $300,000.
When he requested more she used her savings and mortgaged her house to comply before becoming concerned and calling police.
The man who went by David Holmes was outed when another man he sent to a bank in Turkey to collect the cash was taken into custody.
The man who originated the scam hasn’t been caught yet.

CBS News reports the woman did get $200,000 back but authorities say the rest is "just impossible to track down."

Not surprisingly, the picture the man used on his profile was stolen from the internet.
The assistant DA in San Francisco admitted "you get the love drug in you and you end up getting duped."
