Unwanted dogs get star treatment and a home

(ASHEVILLE, N.C.) - An idea to find homes for rescue dogs is gaining popularity.

Eight months ago, visitors at the Aloft hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, started to see adoptable dogs at the front desk.

Many of the dogs have been picked over for younger animals in the past.

"When you go to a shelter and find multiple animals in the shelter, the six, eight or 10-year-old dog might be overlooked," said Kim Smith, president of Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue. "But if you come to the hotel and you walk up to the reception desk and you see a single dog, your eye is on that single dog."

The hotel partnered with a group called Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue.

Hotel workers foster the dogs as the animals help greet customers and serve as a mascot.

Every single one of them, like the Chihuahua named Taco, has found a home.

Their 26^th foster dog is Oscar, is a six-year-old Chihuahua-Beagle mix.

He loves to sing along with police sirens as they drive by the hotel and enjoys just snuggling on laps.

The hotel is now looking to expand the program to other properties in other cities.

Tulsa has two locations, one downtown and one in south Tulsa.
