SBA offers disaster assistance to Tulsa

Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Oklahoma businesses and residents affected by the tornadoes, severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding that occurred March 25 and 26 in Cleveland and Tulsa counties, U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet announced Tuesday.

SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster following the denial of the state's request for a major disaster declaration on April 3, 2015.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Canadian, Cleveland, Creek, Grady, McClain, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Pottawatomie, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington counties.

"SBA is strongly committed to providing Oklahoma with the most effective and customer-focused response possible, and we will be there to provide access to federal disaster loans to help finance recovery for businesses and residents affected by the disaster," said Contreras-Sweet. "Getting our businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA."

"Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters whose property was damaged or destroyed by this disaster," said SBA's Oklahoma District Director Dorothy Overal.

The Tulsa County Disaster Loan Outreach Center located at 110 E. Broadway Street in Sand Springs opens Wednesday at 8 a.m. SBA representatives will be on-hand at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center to answer questions about SBA's disaster loan program, explain the application process and help each individual complete their application.

The center will be open Mondays through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
