The women with the unlicensed nuclear accelerators on their backs will have a decidedly Saturday Night Live look.
Director Paul Feig made the reveal on Twitter adding a release date of July 22, 2016.
Melissa McCarthy will be joined by SNL alum Kristen Wiig, and current cast members Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Feig was involved with plans to update the story with the original cast of Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Harodl Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. Those plans went out the window when Murray said no. It was completely shelved after the death of Ramis.
However, Feig wasn’t finished with the idea.
"I love the first one so much"I don't want to do anything to ruin the memory of that," he told Entertainment Weekly.
“So it just felt like, let’s just restart it because then we can have new dynamics.”
Those dynamics will be the all-female cast and an up-to-date look and feel.
“I want the technology to be even cooler. I want it to be really scary, and I want it to happen in our world today.”
Feig has experience with Wiig and McCarthy having directed both in Bridesmaids.
