Hans Lipschis was deported from the US back in 1983 when it was discovered he lied about his involvement as a guard at the infamous Auschwitz death camp.
Now Lipschis has been arrested and taken into custody on those allegations in Germany.
German law enforcement authorities now say there is compelling evidence he was involved in the crimes at the camp while he worked there from 1941 to 1945.
Lipschis has admitted he was assigned to the camp but says he was a cook and not involved in war crimes.
It’s expected to take up to two months to investigate and proceed with the case but Lipschis will be kept in custody during that period.
Some 50 other people are being investigated under what's known as the John Demjanjuk theory.
Demjanuk was convicted of being involved in over 2,800 murders during the war despite there being no direct evidence. Read more about that here.
