Woman accused of drowning son, injuring his sibling

A pastor says the Pennsylvania woman accused of drowning one of her young sons and critically injuring another backed into the boys with her van 10 months ago.

North Park Church Pastor Dan Hendley says the incident happened in the driveway of the boys' grandparents.

He says Laurel Michelle Schlemmer didn't see her sons behind the van.

He says one child had internal injuries and the other was unable to walk for a time.

Hendley says it was simply a "terrible accident."

No charges were filed.

Forty-year-old Schlemmer was jailed without bond Wednesday on charges including criminal homicide and attempted homicide.

Authorities say she tried to drown both boys in a bathtub by sitting on them.

Three-year-old Luke was pronounced dead Tuesday morning, while 6-year-old Daniel remained in critical condition.
