Police say Garry Allen Domres was riding his bike along Riverside Drive when he was involved in an accident with a car around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
EMSA says medics pronounced Domeres dead on the scene.
Riverside northbound near 85th closed for at least two hours as Tulsa police and the medical examiners office investigated the collision.
Police say the driver of the car is not at fault.
Witnesses say the 16-year-old driver was going well under the speed limit.
Domeres was riding on the grassy shoulder and then suddenly changed direction.
Police say he was likely heading across the street to the bike trail on the other side of the busy street when he was struck and did not check for oncoming traffic.
