The entire Tulsa City Council voted to approve a new city budget last night. We're told part of the $711-million could be used to hire 61 new Tulsa police officers. The money also would be used to fund two new police academies. Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett cautions that he is concerned about adding 40 more police officers than what he recommended to the Council.
Two proposals made at the meeting would give city councilors a $6,000 pay raise.
The other proposal would give non-sworn city employees a one-percent pay increase.
