Study: Taking acetaminophen while pregnant causes ADHD-like behavior in children

The study found that children with prenatal exposure to the drug were 13% more likely to end up with ADHD-like behavior.

The risk increased when the drug was taken later in pregnancy and the longer it was taken.

Mom-to-be who used acetaminophen for 20 weeks or longer increased the chance of the child later needing pills for ADHD by 50 percent. But the authors of the Danish study pointed out that they did not find an exact cause/effect pattern. They also stressed that the findings don’t mean it specifically causes ADHD, but that similar behaviors were found.

They think the cause for this weird link may be because the drug interfering with important hormones that impact brain development.
