Struggling businesses looking forward to end of south Tulsa construction

KRMG has been checking with businesses along the stretch of 61st Street between Sheridan and Mingo ever since construction began.

Many business owners told KRMG they’ve noticed a significant drop in customers since work started. The City of Tulsa ripped up the road to replace a water line and then repave the street.

Pizza Depot owner Brad Naifeh told KRMG the construction has absolutely hurt his business.

"There's no question, people avoid 61st Street… I avoid 61st Street and I come here, so we go through back ways and everything that we can." Naifeh said.

The biggest frustration Naifeh and other business owners are dealing with is that they don’t see crews out there working anymore.

“All the concrete’s finished, all the pipes have been laid underground; everything seems to be done on this part of the road.” Naifeh added.

City crews can still be seen working on 61st Street closer to Sheridan.

The City of Tulsa tells KRMG the whole project should be finished sometime in August.
