Six Flags roller coaster accident injures four, strands others

Authorities say a roller coaster accident has injured four people and left others stranded 20 feet in the air.

Los Angeles County fire Supervisor Michael Pittman says the Ninja ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles hit a tree branch shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday and stopped.

He says four people on the ride received minor injuries.

All the riders remained on the stalled coaster nearly an hour after the accident.

Pittman says firefighters do have ladders available to rescue them if necessary.

The Ninja coaster can hold up to 28 riders who are suspended in cars beneath the track.

The coaster whips them around between trees on a hilltop at up to 55 mph.
