Rain helps get fire under control that had been whipped by winds

UPDATE: We're told the situation with the Sperry fire has changed for the better with incident command telling us  of 6:50pm that it is 'substantially under control'.

The area got a steady rain for close to 45 minutes than then a light rain.

Fire crews are battling multiple fires in western Tulsa County, Pawnee County and Osage County.

KRMG's Russell Mills is on the worst of the fires along Rock School Road north of Sand Springs and near Sperry.

He reports that he can see multiple points that are burning and says it is difficult for crews to get to the fires.

KRMG's Chris Cordt talked with one woman who was being evacuated and she told him she was getting the family out and grabbing a few personal items.

There are additional fires burning in the Cleveland area.
