Plane makes scratch free landing on expressway

It was just like in the movies but this time it was real.
The small plane had just taken off when it began losing power. A student pilot was at the controls but his flight instructor quickly took over.
Realizing there was no way he could continue to climb, he sat it down on the Capitol expressway in San Jose, California.
"There wasn't even a scratch," the owner of the flight school where the plane was based proudly told the San Jose Mercury News.
San Jose cops were equally impressed. "It required some skill on his part," one said.
"We're just thankful nobody got injured."
Once on the ground the pilot steered the plane into the right-hand turn lane and found a place to stop.
The newspaper wanted to gather more details about the flight from the FAA but when they called the agency they got a message saying they were “not in the office due to a lapse in federal funding."
