It sounds contradictory but Theresa Anderson’s neighborhood wishes the crack dealing grandmother was back on their street.
They say crime was lower when Anderson owned several of the homes on Deshler Street with family living in most of them.
Most of the family worked for Theresa whose business was making and selling crack.
"I miss Theresa, I really do," one neighbor claimed.
Earlier this year a SWAT team raided the area and arrested Theresa and shut down her business. That means the houses she owned are empty and there are fewer eyes watching the area. They say that has been bad for their street.
"I actually felt safer. Now my place has been broken into," one said.
Others say hookers are now using the area for their nightly “walks” and many homes have been broken into.
But city officials think that’s a crazy opinion.
"A sad commentary" is how one summed it up. "It's like the old days of Prohibition when you looked for the mob to keep order on your street but it's a false sense of security. She's bringing criminals into the neighborhood."
Anderson will be sentenced this week with nearly 20 years in prison on the line.
