TULSA - Hundreds of pets separated from their human owners during last month's tornadoes in the Oklahoma remain in temporary shelters, as volunteers scramble to reunite them.
In fact, state and local officials estimate more than half of the animals have yet to rejoin their human families.
The shelters will only keep the pets until June 19, KRMG has learned.
Owners can bring a photo or other documentation of their pet to the following facilities:
Cleveland County Fairgrounds
615 East Robinson Street
Norman, OK 73071
Animal Resource Center (ARC)
7941 S I-35 Service Road
Oklahoma City, OK 73149
Oklahoma City Animal Shelter
2811 SE 29th St.
Oklahoma City, OK
Meanwhile, a memorial service for the animals who died in the storms is planned for June 15 at the Orr Family Farm, where dozens of horses died during the May 20 EF5 tornado.
Pet owners will be allowed to plant flower bulbs in the memory of their lost companions.
