Luther, Oklahoma registers 3.0 earthquake

An area southeast of Luther, Oklahoma, had an earthquake Wednesday evening.

The U.S. Geological Survey tells us that the tremor in Oklahoma County registered a 3.0 on the Richter Scale.

It happened at 8:39 p.m.

The USGS tells us that Medford, Oklahoma, near the Kansas-Oklahoma state line also registered a 2.9 earthquake on Wednesday.

It happened at 10:03 a.m.

The quake was one of three tremors within a few hours of each other that happened in Alaska and in the British Virgin Islands.

Those quakes measured 2.7 and 3.4, respectively.

The largest earthquake Wednesday was in the Easter Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.

It measured 5.2 on the Richter Scale.

New Zealand and Alaska had earthquakes yesterday that registered at 4.7 each.
