Keystone X-L Pipeline won't have a big impact on the enviroment according to report

A report from the State Department on the Keystone X-L Pipeline was released Friday.

The report shows there would be no significant impact on the environment.

Kerri-Ann Jones is the Assistant Secretary for Oceans International Environmental and Scientific Affairs.

She stresses that the report is only a technical review and not an approval or denial.

Jones says, “I think it’s premature at this point to really try to come down with drawn conclusions as we want to make sure we get a lot of comments on this and we get a full public debate.”

Jones says the preliminary analysis shows that construction of any oil transport system would unlikely have a significant impact on crude oil demand in the United States.

There will now be a 45-day public comment period.
