TULSA, Okla. — A family of dogs was dumped in front of Tulsa SPCA on Tuesday.
In a post shared to social media, Tulsa SPCA said someone drove onto their property and released an entire family of dogs before driving away.
“Today we had someone pull onto campus, open their vehicle, and release an entire family of dogs: one adult male, one adult female, and several puppies. They then drove away,” said Tulsa SPCA. “Animal welfare can be hard, and we know that sometimes people feel like they have no options. Situations like this are often the result of someone feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to turn. However, abandoning animals is not legal and can put both the animals and our community at risk.”
Tulsa SPCA is a “managed-intake shelter,” which means the number of animals brought in is monitored by staff and is based on capacity and resources available.
Dumping animals, which is illegal in the City of Tulsa, causes negative impacts on the shelter, the care the animals receive, and the overall upkeep of the already present pets.
Tulsa SPCA said all the dogs — one adult male, one adult female, and several puppies — are on a stray hold until the end of day on March 13.
