TULSA, Okla. — A man was convicted on two counts of first degree murder following a double shooting that occurred near Admiral and Garnett in 2024.

On Tuesday, Elwyn Lopez was convicted by a jury for the fatal shooting of Luis Garcia and Jose Garcia-Reyes in March 2024.

According to police, an altercation began in a mobile home park about a truck— occupied by Garcia and Garcia-Reyes—that was blocking the street.

Officers said Lopez came out of a nearby home and shot multiple shots into the truck, killing both men.

Authorities said they were able to identify Lopez through interviewing witnesses at the scene.

According to Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, the jury recommended Lopez receive a life imprisonment sentence.

Lopez will be officially sentenced at a later date.
