TULSA, Okla. — A man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a 2016 deadly north Tulsa shooting.
On the morning of June 28, 2016, The Tulsa Police Department responded to a shooting near East Independence Street and North Quebec Avenue.
Officers found two victims with gunshot wounds. Police said one was pronounced dead, and the other had non-life-threatening injuries.
Zane Patrick Yargee was identified as a suspect in the shooting.
Yargee was arrested on July 8, 2016 in Oklahoma County for drug offenses. On July 12, 2026, Yargee was charged in connection to the shooting.
According to court documents, the Oklahoma County drug charges were later dismissed because Yargee was charged federally in the Western District of Oklahoma.
Yargee was sentenced in the Western District of Oklahoma case on September, 4, 2018 to over 11 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, which he continues to serve.
He was then brought back to Tulsa County for his initial appearance in the shooting. Tulsa County dismissed the case, citing the need for further investigation.
In June of 2021, Tulsa County forwarded the case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma. Following an investigation, including finding potential witnesses, a federal grand jury indicted Yargee in 2024.
Yargee has remained in custody since July 2016.
On Thursday, Yargee pleaded guilty voluntary manslaughter and assault with a dangerous weapon. He faces up to 15 years in prison on the new charges.
