HENRYETTA, Okla. — Henryetta and Dewar Public Schools were on soft lockdown this morning after police say they were searching for a suspect in a shooting Monday morning.

According to the Henryetta Police Department, they received a call around 7:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South 17th in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 60-year-old woman shot multiple times. Police say she was awake and alert at the time.

The woman spoke with officers and was then transported to Henryetta and then air lifted to a Tulsa hospital. Police believe she is currently stable.

Police say the woman told them her niece, identified as Ashley Anne Crawford, came over to her house in the morning and assaulted and shot her. Crawford left on foot and police began canvassing the area.

Officers located a possible address for Crawford on North Wilson Road, about five miles north of Henryetta. Officers arrived on scene and located a car they believe belonged to Crawford. They say that Crawford showed up to the house and was taken into custody without incident.

Crawford is charged with shooting with intent to kill.

Both Henryetta and Dewar Public Schools were on lockdown during this time as the shooting occurred around near the campuses.
