Another person dead after fatal New Year’s Eve motorcycle accident

UPDATE 1/5/26: Two people are dead after a motorcycle struck an SUV on New Year’s Eve, and witnesses tell Tulsa Police the motorcycle, driven by 19-year old Israel Mejia (Ma-Hee-ah) was driving dangerously.

Several witnesses told Tulsa Police officers Mejia (Ma-Hee-ah) was operating recklessly, driving too fast, and running red lights before he struck an SUV, killing himself and the driver of the SUV. The injury collision happened just before 9 p.m. at an intersection near Sheridan and E. 81st Street.

The SUV driver, 22-year old Andrew Seneker, died due to his injuries. Tulsa Police Captain Richard Meulenberg tells KRMG they are still waiting on toxicology reports. The four other passengers in the SUV sustained minor injuries.

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department reported another person has died as a result of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on New Year’s Eve.

According to police, witnesses said they saw a motorcycle speeding and running through red lights near East 81st Street and South Sheridan Road around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities said the motorcycle struck a Lexus SUV as it turned onto East 81st Street, hitting the SUV at such a high rate of speed that it caused the SUV to flip onto its side.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital in critical condition where authorities said they later died from the injuries they received in the crash.

TPD said the four other passengers inside the SUV only had minor injuries.

The department stated their Advanced Traffic Investigators are still investigating evidence from the scene, including skid marks and vehicle data, as they work to reconstruct the crash.
