TULSA, Okla. — A local robotics team is making its way to the nation’s capital to compete for the Governor’s Cup.
“It’s such an honor to represent our community here, to represent Oklahoma as a whole, and to me, I think it’s just a testament to what happens when a community comes and gives these youth an opportunity, some mentorship, and some leadership and let them go and solve some problems,” said Program Director Matt McLain.
The Leviathan Robotics Team along with multiple other teams from around the country were challenged with building a robot that would complete several tasks.
“There’s only one representative from each state. We are excited to be one of 76 Oklahoma teams, but there is also one from each other state in the country, so I’m excited to discuss strategies and discuss engineering philosophies that we’ve learned and really collaborate as well as compete amongst the elite competition,” said Maxwell Johnson, Team Captain for Leviathan.
The Governor’s Cup begins Friday, February 20 and ends the following Saturday.
