OPAN, Okla. — The Copan Fire Department assisted in rescuing stranded water fowl hunters from Copan Lake on Sunday.

CFD said it was asked to assist the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and Core of Engineers on rescuing the hunters from the north end of the lake.

Firefighters deployed a rescue boat out of the Port of Osage Plains and found the hunters before helping them with their water crafts.

CFD said its next equipment update will be a new rescue boat, as it was damaged during Sunday’s rescue.
