Bixby Schools investigating knife incident in 6th grade classroom

By Steve Berg

BIXBY, Okla. — The principal at Bixby’s Central Intermediate School, which has students from 4th to 6th grades, says a 6th grade student brought a knife to school today, resulting in a minor stab wound to another student.

In a message to parents, Principal Denver Boren says the student dropped the knife on the floor in the classroom.

Boren says when the student picked it up, they approached another student, and caused a superficial puncture wound to the other student’s arm in the process.

He says a teacher intervened immediately and took the knife away.

He says School Resource Officers are investigating and will take all appropriate action, following the law and district policy.

Bixby Police posted on Facebook that the student who had the knife was taken into custody and transported to the Tulsa County Juvenile Detention Center.
