TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Oilers hockey team is partnering with the American Heart Association to “Red Out the Rink” for heart health.
Fans are encouraged to wear red at the Oilers home game at the BOK Center on Friday, Feb. 3, in support of National Wear Red Day, which raises awareness about cardiovascular disease.
Fans will also have the opportunity to learn hands-only CPR, alongside the Oilers’ mascot, Sledge.
More than 350,000 people suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the U.S. every year, and only about 10 percent of those people survive. The American Heart Association is asking the public to “Be the Beat” by making sure at least one person in every household or family learns hands-only CPR.
Red rally towels will be given to the first 1,000 fans.
The Oilers will face the Idaho Steelheads.
