TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa library is celebrating Pride Month by putting their LGBTQ+ book collection on display.
Librarians told FOX23 the purpose of the display is to let everyone in the community know they are welcome at the library. One staff member explained why LGBTQ+ representation is so important.
“The library is for the whole community. We have hundreds of thousands of items that reflect lived experiences for Tulsa County residents,” said Librarian Leah Weyand.
She continued, “I think it’s really important to see yourself reflected in stories, and that includes all varieties of lived experiences.”
