Tulsa Health Department will soon begin 2020 flu vaccinations

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Health Department announced on Monday they will begin offering seasonal flu vaccinations on October 1st.

Vaccines will be given by appointment only.

THD recommends everyone over the age of six months be vaccinated for the flu this year, especially during a pandemic.

Health officials say it is possible to get both the flu and COVID-19. Both have very similar symptoms and can be hard to tell the difference and may require a test to confirm the diagnosis.

During the last flu season, THD reported 866 flu-related hospitalizations and 16 flu-related deaths in Tulsa County. Monday, THD’s Dr. Dart reported 160 COVID-19-related deaths in Tulsa County since March.

Call 918-582-9355 to make an appointment or request an appointment online.

Masks are required to be worn and clients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival.
