The 21-year-old Baton Rouge-based rapper, born as Kentrel DeSean Gaulden, is being held in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

While no charges are listed for Gaulden, his hold comes at the direction of the U.S. Marshals’ Office, KLFY reported.

On March 22, Gaulden was taken into custody in Los Angeles on a federal warrant out of Baton Rouge, WBRZ reported. A grand jury handed down an indictment for a felon in possession of a firearm, the television station reported.

Gaulden was YouTube’s most viewed artist in 2019, according to The Wall Street Journal, topping stars like Billie Eilish, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Post Malone.

In September 2020, Gaulden was among 16 people arrested on drug and firearm charges while filming a music video in Baton Rouge, WVUE reported.

Gaulden also served 90 days in jail in 2019 after a judge handed down a temporary probation hold in a 2016 nonfatal shooting case, according to KCBS.

Prosecutors moved to dismiss his probation after Gaulden’s involvement in a Miami shootout in 2019 that left one person dead, the television station reported.
