In a news release, the National Park Service said the woman posted the video to her TikTok page, which showed her hitting the ball and throwing the club near Mather Point. Officers said they identified the woman in the view with help from the public.

The video had been posted to TikTok on Wednesday, but was since deleted by the app, The Independent reported.

Since then, the video has reappeared on Reddit, where it was shared in a National Park group.

In a Facebook post announcing the charges, the National Park Service asked, “Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?’” It is illegal to throw objects over the rim of the canyon, and doing so can put hikers and wildlife in danger.

Last year, comedian Jake Adams released a public apology after he was investigated for hitting a golf ball at the Grand Canyon, The Independent reported.
