TAMPA, Fla. — Officers on patrol made an unusual discovery when they found a litter of puppies zipped inside a suitcase that was left outside of a rental property.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay said on its Facebook page that two officers with the Tampa Police Department were on patrol when they found a mother dog and her puppy running in a busy neighborhood and brought them to the Humane Society’s shelter.
When the officers returned to the scene where the dog and her puppy had ben found, they noticed a pink suitcase and heard squeals coming from inside. Humane officials said the suitcase had been left outside of a vacation rental and there were six puppies “stuffed” inside.
Shelter officials told WFLA that the mother dog is a terrier mix and the seven puppies are estimated to be 5 weeks old.
The Tampa Police Department shared photos of the puppies on its Facebook page, and asked anyone with information about who may have abandoned the dogs to contact police.
