Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice. He was impeached earlier this month on a charge of incitement of insurrection over the Jan. 6 Capitol riot while Congress was in a joint session to certify Electoral College votes for president and vice president in the Nov 3 election. The attempted siege resulted in five deaths.

In a statement issued Friday, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged once the Senate receives the article, “we must start a trial.” The trial is slated to begin the week of Feb. 8, and will be presided over by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, the Senate’s president pro tempore.

The House impeachment managers include Lead Manager Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Maryland, and Reps. Diana DeGette, D-Colorado; David Cicilline, D-Rhode Island; Joaquin Castro, D-Texas; Eric Swalwell, D-California; Ted Lieu, D-California; Stacey Plaskett, D-U.S. Virgin Islands; Madeleine Dean, D-Pennsylvania; and Joe Neguse, D-Colorado.

Raskin read the article of impeachment aloud on the Senate floor just after 7 p.m. ET Monday.
