The fire started at The Dog Resort where pets “will play away the day with furry friends, supervised by professional, dog loving staff, in our safe, free-range, indoor and outdoor environment.”

A worker said that he tried to put out the flames on his own, but then pivoted quickly to get the 115 dogs in their care to safety, KIRO reported.

“We literally had to grab them all out the door. I’m not going to say throw them, but we had to get them out quickly,” Isaac Walker told our sister station. “There was no time to play around. It was scary, it was definitely scary, but we got them all out.”

Dogs were running loose, but thankfully employees at neighboring businesses helped keep them under control, along with help from animal control officers.

Afterwards, the dogs were all taken inside or put in a gated area of a neighboring business.

Some dogs even got to ride a county bus to go to another pet care facility, where they were reunited with their owners, KIRO reported.

But the good news is that all the dogs are accounted for.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to put the fire out and help wrangle the dogs, some of which needed oxygen.

Four had to be taken to a nearby veterinarian to be checked out, KIRO reported
