Sand Springs woman creates t-shirt to benefit families of teens killed, injured in car crash

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — Fundraisers have started to help the families of the Sand Springs teenagers who were killed and injured in a car crash last week. A Sand Springs woman is partnering with a local boutique to make t-shirts that will benefit the families of the teens.

Last Thursday around 12:30 p.m., five Charles Page High School students were in a car driving on Park Road in Sand Springs, when the car veered off the road, hit a tree and flipped over.

Three students who were in the backseat died at the scene. The driver and the front passenger are recovering.

Families are mourning the losses of 16-year-old Kylee Weaver, 16-year-old Cyra Saner and 17-year-old Ethan Gibson. Sirrah Mathews, 16, was admitted and released from the hospital and 16-year-old Logan Childers remains in the hospital and is listed as stable.

Many people in the community want to step up and help the families of those injured and killed in this crash.

Michelle Wallace says she lives down the street from where the crash happened.

“It was heartbreaking. I was at work whenever I found out,” said Wallace. “My children are young, but being a mom in general, it hurts and it’s sad to hear about these young children that aren’t going to get to grow up. These moms and dads are having to live without their kids.”

Wallace makes t-shirts for fun, but she knew her next project is going to be “Sandite Strong” shirts. She’s teaming up with a local boutique to make shirts to remember the victims. All the money raised will go to the families.

People can order these shirts with the names of the kids involved in the crash on them, or without the names. Wallace asks people to please reach out to her on CashApp and let her know the size of shirt you want and whether you want names on the shirt or not.

If you don’t use CashApp, you can also reach out to Wallace on Facebook. The best place to go for information is the Sand Springs Community Group on Facebook.

Her CashApp is $BossMom104. Shirts are $20 and $2 extra for anything over size XL.

The family of Ethan Gibson has also set up a Facebook donation page to help with funeral costs.

A GoFundMe page has been up set up to help the family of Cyra Saner.
