Relaxed masking rules go into effect at some Tulsa Public Schools

TULSA, Okla. — Updated Covid safety protocols take effect at some Tulsa Public School campuses.

Starting Monday, Nov. 29, students and staff at standalone high school campuses are no longer expected to wear a mask while indoors.

Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) announced the new rules on Nov. 16.

The updated guidelines will be applied to elementary schools, middle and junior high schools, and other school sites for 6th through 12th grade students starting Tuesday, Jan. 4 next year.

The district says they are continuing to recommend that all students and staff wear a mask while on TPS properties.

Students and staff who take a school bus to and from school will still be required to wear a mask due to the federal mandate for masking on public transportation.

The full list of changes to the district’s Covid safety protocols can be found here.
