- A witness saw a Chihuahua mix puppy being thrown from a car near 31st and Garnett.
- The driver stopped to check on the puppy then called Legacy of Hope.
- They met a local veterinarian’s office where they learned the puppy had been abused.
- Chemical burns were on the 8-week old puppy’s back, front neck, and legs. Its head was also bruised from being thrown from the vehicle.
- Legacy of Hope is a foster-based dog rescue and the pup, named Hendrix, is with a foster dog home.
- The witness was unable to get a description of the vehicle and the wasn’t microchipped. Since Legacy of Hope didn’t see anything happen, they said they can’t seek charges.
- Animal cruelty is a felony in Oklahoma. But it falls under non-violent and won’t appear in the list of felonies under State Question 805, which seeks to lower sentences for non-violent offenses.
