Joining forces, Biden and Harris denounce Trump on virus response

With no cheering crowds to greet them in a school gym in Delaware because of the Coronavirus, former Vice President Joe Biden formally introduced Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) as his running mate on Wednesday, with both Democrats using their first joint event in five months to denounce President Trump's handling of the Coronavirus.

"Just look where they've gotten us," Harris said of President Trump and Vice Pence. "More than 16 million out of work."

Biden verbally thrashed the President for not being personally involved in negotiations with Congress on extra Coronavirus relief aid.

“Donald Trump is on the golf course,” Biden said, echoing President Trump’s criticism of President Obama for playing golf.

It was the first time Biden and Harris had been on the campaign stump together since a March 9 unity rally in Detroit, as the virus outbreak scuttled regular campaign stops soon after the Michigan Primary.

A smiling Harris said she was more than ready to get to work with Biden, as she joined him in skewering President Trump over the loss of millions of jobs to the Coronavirus.

“This is what happens when you elect a guy who just isn’t up for the job,” Harris said.

Normally, the Biden-Harris tandem would now hit a series of swing states for campaign rallies, before ending up at the Democratic convention next week.

But because of the virus outbreak, the Democratic ticket will be focused on virtual and remote events, though President Trump is planning to hit four states in campaign trips next week.
