Police take homicide suspect into custody in downtown Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police arrested a homicide suspect after police evacuated a building in downtown Tulsa in pursuit of him Friday morning.

According to police, Camreion Williams was arrested for shooting and killing his stepfather, Pete Clifton.

It started when officers were called to the Sunset Plaza Apartments, near East John Hope Franklin Boulevard and MLK Jr. Boulevard, for a shooting around 1:20 a.m. Friday. The caller said Williams shot Clifton, then left the scene. Clifton died at the hospital.

Later in the morning, police were notified that Williams returned to the apartment complex. When officers got back to the complex, Williams took off, starting a short police chase.

The chase ended at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa where Williams got out of his car with his arms in the air, but then ran into the building. Police evacuated the Cox Business Center.

Police said Williams was a security guard at the business center, and he got onto one of the center’s radios. Police said they were able to pinpoint his location through the radio transmission. Williams was found in a maintenance room and surrendered to officers peacefully.

Camreion Williams is booked into the Tulsa County Jail for first-degree murder.
