Okmulgee Public Schools temporarily moving to distance learning.

Okmulgee Public Schools has announced they are temporarily moving to distance learning starting Monday, Aug. 30.

In a letter to parents, the district says they are making the move due to the number of students and staff testing positive for COVID-19. The district is also concerned about the number of students that have had first-hand contact with someone who has tested positive.

The letter, sent Saturday, says students can return to classrooms on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The district is strongly recommending any student who exhibits COVID-related symptoms to get tested immediately.

Okmulgee Public Schools says Chromebook and Hotspot pick-up is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31. The district says more information will become available in the next few days.
