Oklahomans for Equality release statement after Idaho

TULSA, Okla. — After 31 members of the white supremacist group Patriot Front were arrested near an Idaho pride event Saturday, Oklahomans for Equality released the following statement:

“Oklahomans for Equality and Tulsa Pride’s hearts have been heavy with the news of mass shootings across the country. From Uvalde, Texas, to our neighbors at St. Francis Hospital. Our entire country has been under attack, and now we have been alerted to a thwarted plot by the white nationalist group Patriot Front to cause a riot at an Idaho Pride Festival this past weekend. We are always aware of the safety concerns of our community and wish to do all we can to make this festival as safe and secure as possible. We have heightened our security measures with bag checks at every entrance, increased security personnel throughout the festival grounds, and, as always, no weapons will be allowed at Tulsa Pride. We ask that festival-goers not engage with antagonistic protestors. Proving a point is not worth risking your safety. Remember, we must take care of each other and choose kindness in the face of tragedy.”
