OG&E crews heading to Virginia as winter weather expected to slam East Coast

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Eighty OG&E linemen are on their way to Virginia to help people ahead of a major winter storm.

Wintry weather is expected to slam the East Coast this weekend, and a power company there put out a call for extra support. Crews left Friday morning from Shawnee for Richmond, Virginia.

OG&E plans to pick up additional workers from Muskogee and Arkansas before arriving in Richmond.

Authorities say OG&E crews could be in Virginia for up to 14 days.
